Why should I use this Squoosh alternative?

Since Google retired Squoosh, developers have been searching for a clean, private, offline-capable alternative. Our tool runs completely in your browser's RAM via WebAssembly (WASM). Your photos never touch a network card.

How does synchronized zoom and pan work?

You can zoom in (using the dropdown or mouse wheel) and pan (click and drag) on either the original or compressed image. Both sides scroll together synchronously, so you can inspect compression artifacts side-by-side down to the exact pixel.

What is the difference between WebP and AVIF?

AVIF generally provides up to 30-50% better compression than WebP and JPEG at the same visual quality. However, it takes slightly longer to encode. WebP is highly optimized and supported by almost all legacy browsers.

What does the 'Effort' slider do?

The Effort slider controls how hard the encoder works to shrink the image. Level 1 is lightning-fast but yields slightly larger files. Level 6 is very thorough, executing deep search compression algorithms to output the absolute smallest file size possible.

Is my original photo modified?

No. Everything runs inside your browser's memory using a read-only buffer copy. Your original local file on your disk remains completely untouched.

Is my database data uploaded to any server?

No! Everything runs 100% locally in your browser using WebAssembly. Your database and data never leave your computer.

What changes can I make to the database?

Since the database runs in your browser memory, you can run any DDL or DML statements (like INSERT, UPDATE, DELETE, CREATE TABLE). You can then download the updated database using the 'Save & Download' button.

How does the column filtering work?

Under each column header, you can type values to filter. You can also use operators like `>`, ` 100` or `IS NULL`) to filter numerically or logically.

Is there a file size limit?

Since the file is loaded into the browser's WebAssembly memory, files under 50MB run flawlessly. Files between 50MB and 150MB may work but can cause slight lag depending on your system's RAM. We warn you if your file exceeds 50MB.
